The government staff begins a new round of meetings at Maximos Palace with a central axis the plan and speed in restoring the damage caused by the disastrous fires of August 11while at the same time the preparation for the presence of the prime minister at the TIF begins, which is based on two strands: the political, i.e. the new government narrative with a three-year horizon, and the financial, which includes the finalization of the budget sizes for 2025 and the outlining the main priorities of economic policy for the coming year.
Tomorrow afternoon Kyriakos Mitsotakis will preside over a broad meeting in Penteli where the first comprehensive assessment of the fire that hit Northeast Attica will take place, the focus will be on the grid of measures to compensate those affected with fast track procedures and the actions that must be taken to restore the damages . In a special map, the data with the burned areas, whether they are forest or urban, will be presented in detail by the competent minister of environment and energy, Theodoros Skylakakis and the general director of Forests, Evangelos Goudoufa.
Every minister the object of which is related to the destructive passage of fires will present what has happened in its field of action, for example the Ministers of the Interior and Digital Governance the data from the gross plots, in order to have a complete picture but also to evaluate what went wrong.
For his part, the Minister of Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, will explain how the state apparatus worked, while the competent Deputy Minister, Christos Triandopoulos, will present the list of autopsies on the burned buildings. The meeting will be attended by the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Giorgos Mylonakis, the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis and the Minister of State, Akis Skertsos.
The plan for state aid – environmental remediation
In the same meeting, which will be held with the participation of the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalia and the mayors of the municipalities affected by the fire, the plan-schedule will be presented which will include the implementation of the state aid measures as well as the initiatives that will be undertaken for the environmental restoration of the affected areas. This means that – as long as meetings with the financial staff have been preceded – the sources of raising resources – funds to achieve this goal will also be presented.
“The State will make sure to move quickly to compensate those affected by the fire” said the Prime Minister and the procedures for opening the platform for state aid until August 21, through which the 15 meters of support for fire victims.
