An asteroid estimated to be regarding a kilometer wide will fly past Earth safely on Tuesday, NASA said.
According to NASA, the asteroid, known as 7482 (1994 PC1), will fly past Earth safely at around 1.98 million kilometers, traveling at 69,990 km/h around 4:51 p.m. Eastern time.
The asteroid is very well known as it has been studied for decades by NASA planetary defense experts.
Near-Earth objects are asteroids and comets whose orbits bring them within 195 million kilometers of the Sun. Most are asteroids ranging in size from around a few meters to nearly 40 kilometers in diameter, NASA explained.
