Samsung has just announced the launch of a new MicroSD memory card. The news would not be very exciting if it were not for one detail: it is a microSD designed to work continuously for 16 years.
Obviously, the Samsung Pro ENdurance, which is what the card is called, is not intended for that camera that you only use on vacation, but to serve as support for video surveillance systems or on-board cameras in vehicles. It is designed, in short, for systems that need high performance for very long periods.
According to the company, the card it is “cBuilt with Samsung’s enterprise-grade NAND flash memory. The PRO Endurance card can offer up to 16 years (140,160 hours) of continuous recording time to ensure that every critical moment is captured. This means that a single PRO Endurance card can last as long as 33 typical cards.” The data varia according to capacity. The 256 GB model lasts up to those mentioned 140,160 hours. For his part, the 128GB model offers up to 70,080 hours of recording. The 64 GB model has 35,040 hours, and the 32 GB model up to 17,520 hours. All these capacities are calculated con Full HD (1920×1080) video content recorded at 26Mbps (3.25MB/s).
In terms of resistance, the Samsung Pro Endurance lasts up to 72 hours submerged in seawater and remains operational at temperatures between -25 and 86 degrees Celsius. alson supports ma fields15,000 Gauss magnetic resonance (the equivalent of a medical MRI). The Pro Endurance is available from May 3 in four different storage capacities: 32GB64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, with prices ranging from 10.99 euros for the 32 GB to 54.99 euros for the 256 GB.
