A meeting highlights the importance of therapeutic education in the fight against the complications of heart failure

Participants in a meeting held on Sunday in Rabat, on the occasion of World Heart Failure Day, stressed the importance of therapeutic education to fight once morest chronic diseases including heart failure.

Organized by the Moroccan Society of Cardiology in partnership with the Moroccan Association of Heart Failure Patients, under the theme “therapeutic education of heart failure patients”, this meeting was marked by a presentation on heart failure, the means of controlling and to follow the disease as well as on the diet to be adopted by the patients.

The participants were unanimous in affirming that the purpose of therapeutic education is to acquire the necessary skills that people with heart failure need in order to better manage their state of health.

They did not fail to highlight the importance for patients of exercising physical activity in moderation and of adapting their activities and hobbies to their situation.

This interactive meeting was also marked by the testimonies of a few patients, recounting their own experiences of treatment and with the symptoms of the disease which can be summarized in particular as sudden weight gain, swollen feet and shortness of breath during any activity or in lying position.
