In Sudan, a meeting informal between the Freedom and Change Forces and a military delegation on the night of Thursday June 9 to Friday June 10 caused trouble among the forces opposed to the October 25 coup. Their allies in the revolutionary forces reminded them that they were categorically opposed to any compromise with the military.

The meeting took place late in the evening at the residence of the Saudi ambassador, in the Kafouri district of Khartoum North, in the presence of US Assistant Secretary of State. But it was only intended, according to the American embassy, to exchange ideas ».

During the night, the Forces of Freedom and Change (FLC), notably led by the powerful Umma party, immediately published an explanation of their participation in this unexpected meeting. They said they still rejected the national dialogue initiated by the « Tripartite mechanism »ONU-UA-Igadwhich according to them always aims to legitimize the coup ».

The FLC claim to have only reiterated their demands: “ put an end to the coup and establish a roadmap for the full return of power to civilians.

But their allies in the Resistance Committees and the Association of Sudanese Professionals immediately warned them: some recalled their demand to remove the military from political and economic life, but also to bring the criminals to justice. Other others warned them once morest ” the repetition of errors and miscalculations ” the past. A reference to the period when the FLC supported the resigning former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.
