a media announces that his body has been found, the Belgian investigators “are asking themselves serious questions”

The parents of Natacha de Crombrugghe, a Belgian tourist who has been missing since the end of January in Peru, have denied information that their daughter’s body has been found. The information was published on Wednesday by the Peruvian daily La Republicà and was taken up in several Belgian media.

“It’s just a gruesomely staged old skull with legs made out of pieces of oars or wood! There is little chance that it is Natacha ”, indicated to Belga the parents of the tourist. The body found is in an advanced state of decomposition and is being identified, according to the Peruvian daily.

“Clarifying whether or not this is a valid lead”

Belgian investigators are asking “serious questions” regarding the human remains found in Peru. “If it was staged for any reason, I find it downright bad taste,” Ramain Remue told Nieuwsblad. “We are awaiting the results of the forensic investigation to clarify whether or not this is a valid lead. It is important that this is quickly clarified, in the first place for the parents”

Natacha de Crombrugghe, 28, has been missing since January 24, 2022. The Belgian tourist was on a trek in Peru. She had left a backpack in her hotel room in Cabanaconde, a small village perched at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters in the Peruvian Andes, before leaving alone, on January 24 around 05:00, to go and contemplate the canyon of Colca, one of the deepest in the world.
