Due to heavy losses at Avdijivka, the Russians changed their tactics: an expert assessed the situation

Recently, the Russians at Avdijivka changed their tactics and switched to attacking in small groups, as they had done before at Bakhmut. What is the reason for this change and whether such tactics of the attackers will be effective, explained military commentator Denisas Popovich.

“It involves heavy losses. They are changing tactics to try to break through our defenses and have used the experience of what happened at Bachmut by Wagner’s mercenaries when they managed to take most of the city after all. Now they are trying to repeat the same things at Avdijivka, hoping that it will have the same effect,” the expert said.

He noted that in some places, the occupiers actually manage to advance.

“However, the losses they have already suffered and will continue to suffer in trying to break through our defenses will undoubtedly neutralize any military effect of this attack,” he noted.

He also noted that Russia has reduced the intensity of airstrikes and the number of armored vehicles near Avdijivka. The first, according to him, was caused by bad weather, the second by a general lack of equipment in the Russian Federation.

He also emphasized that the reasons for Russia’s attack near Avdijivka lie in the political plane.

“For them, victory as such is important in order to put it on the negotiating table and then get a breather, gather strength and then, in a certain medium-term period, try to continue the attack from more favorable positions. The second reason is a certain trump card for victory in order to support V. Putin’s candidacy in the elections,” the expert noted.

At the same time, he noted that the creation of a bridgehead for a further offensive is not the main reason for the Russian Federation, “because so many troops will be deployed that there must be some serious preparation or regrouping in order to continue to advance deeper into the Donetsk region.”

The situation near Avdijivka is known

Earlier, analysts at the US Institute of War (ISW) noted that Russia had launched a third wave of attacks on Avdiyivka, increasing the number of attacks by 30 percent. However, this time the mechanized forces of the attackers are much weaker than in the previous two waves of attacks. Analysts are convinced that the Russians will not be able to achieve quick success in this area.

As analysts have noted, the Russian occupation forces are losing their most combat-ready units in the Avdijivka region. More than 10,000 have already been destroyed there. enemy soldiers.
