A marathon of surgeries is organized in Presidente Hayes, in order to reduce the wait for scheduled procedures

Asuncion, IP Agency.- At the initiative of the Ministry of Public Health, the XV Health Region of Presidente Hayes will carry out the surgical day in the first week of August, in order to reduce the waiting list for scheduled procedures. The selection of patients for the interventions will take place from Monday, July 29 to August 2.

This activity will be carried out by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, the Social Security Institute and the Government of Presidente Hayes.

The surgical procedures for the marathon will be carried out at the Benjamín Aceval Regional Hospital of the Social Security Institute, from August 5 to 9, within the framework of the agreement between the social security institute and the Ministry of Health. These interventions are aimed at all citizens (insured and non-insured patients of the IPS).

The selection period for eligible patients will be from Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2, at the surgery office of the Villa Hayes Regional Hospital for patients not insured by the social security system from 06:00 to 13:00, where they must present a clinical evaluation for the intervention with laboratory analysis studies. Meanwhile, insured patients will be selected at the Benjamín Aceval IPS.

The goal of the “surgical marathon” is to perform 40 operations at the 15th Regional Health Center.

Likewise, the regional director, Dr. Amanda Núñez and the director of the regional hospital, Dr. Elías Fleitas, received surgical kits in the form of cooperation from the Government of Presidente Hayes.

These initiatives are part of the Government of Paraguay’s priorities to improve healthcare and ensure that citizens have access to timely and quality care. The surgery marathon not only eased the burden on patients, but has also highlighted the importance of inter-institutional cooperation to address challenges in the health system.
