A man who was wanted after a stabbing in Trondheim has been arrested

The wanted man was arrested in Lillestrøm on the night of Saturday, says Trøndelag police district. They will not release any further information about the arrest at this time.

The 21-year-old is charged with attempted murder or complicity in this after the stabbing in Trondheim on the night of Sunday 11 August.

A man in his 20s was dragged out of a car in which he was a passenger, before he was stabbed with a sharp object, the police have previously stated.

The injured man was taken to St. Olav’s hospital afterwards. He was questioned on Monday. The police prosecutor stated earlier this week that they do not have any information about his state of health.

Wanted

On Friday evening, the police issued a public appeal for the 21-year-old with a name and photo. He has been wanted nationally and internationally.

– He will now be transported to Trøndelag and produced for remand. The prison meeting will probably take place on Sunday 18 August, the police say.

Not looking for more

Two other men were arrested in Trondheim and charged in the case on Wednesday.

– The police have now arrested the three suspects in the case and are currently not working on further arrests, says police attorney John R. Sødahl Furunes, who is responsible for prosecuting the case.

The investigation shows that the violent incident was probably a settlement within a community in Trondheim, according to the police attorney. The incident took place at the intersection between Verftsgata and Dokkgata in central Trondheim.

Investigating further

The police did not want to say anything more about what role they believe the 21-year-old had in the incident itself.

– We have concrete information that he was involved in that violent incident. We feel very confident that he was involved. Exactly what role and what concretely happened, who did what – we are still working to find that out, Furunes told Adresseavisen in connection with the inquiry.
