A man is being treated in a serious condition at the Volos Hospital, who on Saturday afternoon allegedly set himself on fire outside his car, on the side road of the Volos-Larissa highway, near the Velestino junction.

As reported by thenewspaper.gr, the man was driving an SUV, overtook the cars in front at an increased speed, over the traffic limit of the road and stopped at the edge. He got out of the car and it was engulfed in flames, while the vehicle had no signs of fire.

Immediately, passing drivers from the scene stopped and called EKAV. An ambulance arrived in a few minutes and took the man to the “Achillopoulio” Emergency Department. According to the doctors, his condition is very serious.

The Police are investigating the incident and under what circumstances the man was engulfed in flames.
