A Liégeois suspected of driving license fraud was arrested on Thursday, shortly following his visit to the examination center in Ottignies, we learned on Friday from the local police zone.
An employee of the center on Einstein Avenue, where the theoretical examinations prior to the issuance of driving licenses take place, had the attention drawn by a candidate with a suspicious attitude.
While the heat was rather heavy, the person concerned was dressed in two t-shirts and a sweater.
Suspected of an attempt at cheating, the man was asked to put on a jacket which was provided to him. When the announcement of the imminent arrival of the police, the individual fled. The suspect was quickly spotted and intercepted at a nearby gas station.
He is a 40-year-old man from Liège who had obviously tried to take the exam in place of another. At the time of his arrest, the 40-year-old was carrying a sum of some 1,500 euros in small denominations, said a spokesperson for the ottintoise police.
