A man on foot broke on the R3: “He called me to tell me: my heart, I got mowed down on the highway, the driver fled”

On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, around 1 a.m., Jonathan (34) was mowed down by a car. He found himself injured between the two central berms of the R3, on foot, alone in the dark. The driver fled.

“He called me to tell me: ‘Honey, I’m calling you because I got hit by a car, I’m not far from Cora Châtelineau, on the highway’. Then it cut off”testifies his companion, still shaken.

She set off immediately, with a friend, and when she arrived Jonathan was already surrounded by paramedics, a doctor and firefighters. Fortunately, he was also able to call the emergency services, which conditioned him on the spot for nearly half an hour before taking him to a hospital. ‘He was fine, he might have to have surgery, but he’s coming home today’adds his companion.

The WPR Marcinelle were also there that night, and they will use the cameras installed on the road to try to identify the fugitive.

But what was Jonathan doing there, alone and on foot, on a highway (the R3 is limited to 120km/h)? “He was coming home, but he only knows the way by the highway, so he took a walk there”, explains the young woman. According to the emergency report, Jonathan was in Châtelet for an evening with friends. But at one o’clock in the morning, when he wanted to go home, no one wanted to accompany him and he resolved to walk back, knowing only one way home: the highway. “He shouldn’t have been there, but that’s no reason not to stop following knocking him down. I’m in low spirits, I hope the driver will be apprehended.”
