Selling pig’s knuckles part-time as an undercover agent

“Neighborhood Guardian” was interviewed by Central News Agency, revealing that he is not a policeman, nor a related practitioner, but an ordinary father who runs a takeaway pork knuckle franchise store. He pointed out that he set up this channel for the sake of his son’s future and to make the living place better, but he had no experience in related activities before.

The channel “Neighborhood Guardian” was inspired by a program where a disguised woman entered a sex trade site and decided to go deep into the crime scene. Before starting, I did a lot of homework, including learning regarding drug dealer cases from family members who were police officers, and learning various code words used by drug dealers on the Internet.

The channel started with a combination of 2 people. With the spread of videos and Korean media reports, it has attracted more like-minded partners. At present, there are regarding 10 people participating. They will accept relevant reports through email and communication software KAKAO TALK, and then conduct filtering investigations. Including repeated reports, regarding 10 to 15 reports are received a day.

In order to avoid the possibility of “phishing law enforcement” and invalidating the evidence, he emphasized that these operations did not cooperate with the police at all. They were carried out independently as ordinary people, collecting evidence by themselves, and directly reporting to the police at the crime scene. The scope of the cases involved included drug trafficking and drunk driving. , illegal gambling, sex trade, illegal military service exemption, etc., and regarding 300 cases have been reported so far, of which regarding 100 cases of criminals have been arrested, and more than 50 cases are under investigation.

Spontaneously pulling prisoners is to achieve justice

Yonhap News Agency reported that the “Neighborhood Guardian” has become quite “famous” among the police stations in the northeast of Seoul where they often operate. The drug dealers caught are not only “little guys” who traded on the spot, but even big fish have been caught.

“Neighborhood Guardian” currently has almost limited revenue due to the content of the video, and only relies on a small amount of donations from viewers to subsidize some expenses such as gas money and repair costs. Some viewers left a message asking if they had received a reward from the police. “Neighborhood Guardian” said they hadn’t, saying, “I heard that the police are considering it internally. If there is any good news, I will share it with you.” The income is not stable, and he is often injured accidentally in the process of arresting prisoners. He said that “of course his family members are very opposed to it, and some viewers even disagree.” However, he believes that setting up this channel is also the only way to protect himself, and it will continue do it.

“Neighborhood Guardian” once stated in a channel post that the spontaneous arrest of criminals is to achieve justice and exert the influence of good deeds, hoping to eradicate crimes that endanger society. He also pointed out that in the face of constant letters recently, the prisoners asking for the removal of the video put forward the condition of “100 million donations” (Korean won). There is no way of knowing if they are truly repentant, and they will not help anyone take videos down in the future.”
