A man for the important moments: Straßwalchen’s Ivic exacerbated Eugendorf’s crisis

The Straßwalchners are continuing their run of success because Ilija Ivic is increasingly discovering the goal-getter in himself. Eugendorf remains without a win in the spring and has to deal more and more with the relegation battle.

Ilija Ivic is not known as a classic goalscorer who scores game following game. He is still considered an extremely dangerous striker in the Salzburg league. Next to him, others flourish, it is easy to shine. “He holds balls well, has a good overview – and he’s a man for the important moments,” says Straßwalchen’s sports director Markus Chudoba regarding the attacker, who almost single-handedly shot down Eugendorf on Saturday. With his goals nine to eleven of the season, Ivic led his team to a 3-2 away win – the seventh win in the past eight rounds. “He showed his class once more.”

Ivic decides the game with a lob

Thanks to Ivic, Straßwalchen was ahead early. In the second minute, the veteran converted a penalty kick. Then Eugendorf took over the command and Marco Thaller equalized following a nice move in the first quarter of an hour. Straßwalchen only dominated in the second half. Things got wild between the 59th and 64th minute: First, Ivic scored from a Martin Burgstaller cross, but Thaller quickly had the perfect answer. However, the equalizer did not last long. Because Ivic immediately scored the 3:2 with a fine lob from 20 meters. “We deserved to win and are very satisfied,” says Chudoba, whose team wants to stay on the heels of the leader Thalgau. “First and foremost it was three points once morest relegation.”

Thalgau beats strong Altenmarkt

The Thalgauer, who – as reported – would not be promoted to the western league in the event of a championship title, following their victory in the summit meeting once morest Bürmoos, also defeated the latecomer Altenmarkt without conceding a goal. “But there were many chances on both sides. Altenmarkt was good in the duels right from the start and didn’t hide. The first goal made it easier for us,” said coach Christoph Gruber following the 2-0 win. Captain Andreas Rottensteiner hit the far corner following 15 minutes, Mario Kreuzer made the preliminary decision in the 35th minute following a corner kick. “After the break we had many chances to make it 3-0. But 2-0 is good. You can’t get more than three points.”
