Tuned UAZ-3303 “Tadpole” equipped with a motor from Toyota
UAZ-3303, also known as the Tadpole, is an airborne version of the legendary Loaf, which is often used in agriculture and agricultural business. This model has been produced since 1985 and is still found on Russian roads, especially in remote regions. However, many Tadpole owners are not satisfied with the standard characteristics of their machines and decide on various improvements to make them more productive and reliable.
So did the author of this project, who owns a 1986 UAZ-3303, which was in a deplorable state. He decided to completely disassemble his Tadpole into parts, including removing the cockpit, which weighed about 200 kg. Then he cleaned, washed and protected from corrosion all the power elements, including the frame, which had to be straightened and slightly lengthened with a channel.
He also updated the brake system, replacing the discs, pads and tubes, and also painted the rims. In addition, he added one sheet #2 to the springs on each axle. The author of the project installed in his UAZ-3303 an engine from a 1997 Toyota Hilux Surf with a volume of 3.4 liters and a power of 185 hp. and 300 N * m of torque.
The “native” automatic transmission and the “Multimode” transfer case were connected to the engine. For better engine cooling, a Hilux radiator was used, as well as universal joints, an air filter housing and other parts from the same SUV.
After working on the motor part, the author of the project took up the appearance of the Tadpole. The cabin was painted in the color “Tobacco”. The body sides have also been updated. They have been replaced with new pine boards that have been machined and painted.
