A five-month investigation by the Saint John Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the laying of charges.
Charles William Shatford was arrested on Tuesday and appeared in Provincial Court on Wednesday in Saint-Jean.
The individual, who is 47 years old, faces a charge of first degree murder in connection with the death of Justin Breau, 39, which occurred in Saint-Jean on August 17, 2022.
The police said they amassed during the investigation hundreds of exhibits which contributed to the arrest and indictment of three individuals.
Following his appearance, Charles William Shatford was remanded in custody until February 10.
Two other men, ages 50 and 24, were also arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of Justin Breau. They have since been detained. They are expected to appear in Provincial Court on Thursday to face undisclosed charges.
