A major security flaw allows control of iPhone, iPad and Mac

Apple Alert for iPhone, iPad and Mac users. The operating software of certain models of the Apple brand has a security flaw. The latter allows you to take control of the devices, which need to be updated urgently.

Anyone with an iPhone released since 2015, an iPad released since 2014, or a Mac running macOS Monterey should hurry to update their device.

A new security flaw

Following the discovery of a security breach, Apple advises its users to update the operating software of their devices. Indeed, some models of iPhone, iPad and Mac are victims of a security breach that allows you to take control of these devices.

The problem lies in the fact that an application, present in the old version of the operating software, is capable of using arbitrary code. In other words, it can perform actions without authorization. Note that this flaw is also exploitable through “maliciously crafted internet content”.

Up to the patch release this Wednesday, these vulnerabilities were classified as “zero-day” vulnerabilities because no patch was available. A golden situation for cybercriminals. It is therefore possible that hackers are actively exploiting this flaw, warns Apple.

One solution

It is not known who is behind the discovery of this vulnerability. The Californian giant simply cited “anonymous researchers” in his reports.

The solution offered by the Cupertino company consists of downloading version 15.6.1 of the iOS operating software for iPhones, version 15.6.1 for iPads and macOS Monterey 12.5.1 for Mac computers. Quite simply. To download the update, you need to open your device’s settings menu, or choose “Software Update” from the “About This Mac” menu on your computer.
