Just like Festina in 2022 with a limited edition, the Akrone watchmaker has decided to integrate a “Made in France” caliber into one of its watches. A C-02 “Heritage” model which is reminiscent of the famous vintage Fifty Fathoms – with an added touch of humor.
This “motor” is manufactured in Maiche, requires five months of production and an additional month for its finishes, including blued screws, Côtes de Genève and a rhodium-plated rose gold mass.
On a technical level, it is equipped with the double cone Incabloc, considered the best current shock absorber, and a crossing balance bridge, reinforcing its solidity. Automatic, it offers a standard power reserve of 44 hours.
Its precision, rivaling COSC certifications, is estimated between -4 and +6 seconds per day. As such, the brand is also considering a collaboration with the Besançon Observatory in 2024 to ultimately certify its FE movements in some of its future collections.
This movement symbolizes more than a technical advance: it is the spearhead of a reindustrialization project, nourishing great hopes for the French watch industry.
« Opting for a watch with a truly French movement is a bold choice in the face of Swiss and Japanese competition. The C-02 ‘Héritage’ is not just a watch, it is a symbol of French reindustrialization in a sector largely dominated by foreign players » indicates the French watch brand in its press release.
