A mad driver causes several accidents near Saint-Jérôme

A 39-year-old man was arrested on Saturday following crashing into two vehicles during a mad dash on Highway 15 South, near Saint-Jérôme and Mirabel.

Around 9 a.m. Saturday morning, calls were made to 911 reporting dangerous driving on Highway 15, near Saint-Jérôme. The “pick-up” type vehicle would have carried out several dangerous maneuvers under the presumed influence of drugs before crashing into a first vehicle in the direction of Mirabel.

Visibly undisturbed by the accident, the mad driver continued on his still dangerous route.

Near Boisbriand, the driver crashed into a second vehicle, this time causing an injury. The driver of the accident vehicle was transported to the Saint-Jérôme hospital center. “We do not fear for his life,” said Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Without further worrying regarding the injured person, the driver of the pick-up once once more continued on his way.

Citizens, disturbed by the events, stopped on the edge of the highway to observe the driver.

It was with the help of a carpet with nails that the authorities were able to control the vehicle and arrest its driver, released later with a promise to appear. The 39-year-old suspect, from Piedmont, faces multiple charges including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, hit-and-run causing bodily harm, absconding, drug-impaired driving and a skewer of breaking his terms.
