During her residency in Las Vegas, the singer revealed that she had stopped drinking several months ago following being close to alcoholism in her youth.
Adele gave up alcohol. During a concert at her residency in Las Vegas, the 35-year-old British singer told her audience that she had recently stopped drinking.
“I stopped drinking (…) three and a half months ago. It seems like an eternity,” she assured on stage, as reported in several videos of the event.
“I was on the verge of alcoholism when I was in my twenties, I miss it so much. I also stopped caffeine,” she added before telling her fans with humor: “Then enjoy your whiskey. I’m very, very jealous.”
“I have always been fascinated by alcohol”
This isn’t the first time the I Drink Wine singer has mentioned his drinking and sobriety. In 2015, Adèle confided to the newspaper The Mirror that she had stopped drinking alcohol to preserve the condition of her vocal cords on the advice of her doctor. In 2021, the artist also reported to the magazine Vogue US his “close relationship” since childhood with drinking.
“I have always been fascinated by alcohol. That’s what took me away from my father (who suffered from alcoholism, editor’s note). So I always wanted to know what was so great regarding it,” she confided.
Currently in full residence at the Colosseum at the Caesars Palace hotel in Las Vegas since November 18, 2022, Adèle will soon complete her concert series with a final show scheduled for November 4.
