Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Passengers passing through Hamad International Airport in the Qatari capital can choose between leaving the airport and joining a free tour to explore the most famous attractions in Doha.

But others can book a room at Oryx, a hotel owned by Qatar Airways, located near Gate C, D and E.

As a luxury airport hotel ranked in the annual Skytrax list of the best hotels in the world, it is not an exaggeration to describe it as one of the most luxurious transit hotels on the planet.

To check-in, passengers will need to present their passport and boarding pass.

They will also have to pay upwards of $450 USD per stay, which is much more than what an overnight stay in Doha costs.

Since transit passengers are the only category in it, the front desk will check the passengers’ flight paths several times and call them to wake them up, and make sure that they wake up in time to catch their next flight.

Oryx is the only hotel within the airport, making it a sensible choice for those with short transit times (transit stays at the airport must be less than 24 hours by law).

There are other ways to experience the hotel without having to book a room.

Travelers can head to the hotel’s “Vitality Center” for $48 per person for up to 4 hours.

This wellness-focused area includes a squash hall, golf simulator, spa, private hydrotherapy pools, hot tubs, and a swimming pool.

The sessions on offer are specially designed for travelers, and include a foot massage session, and another to treat facial dryness caused by the recycled air on board planes.

The hotel includes 100 rooms.

Rooms are in high demand with up to 40 million people passing through Hamad International Airport annually, so booking in advance is advised.

The design of the rooms gives a sense of lightness.

There are four main types of rooms, and the number of beds varies, in addition to a presidential suite that includes a private lounge and a make-up room.

The amenities make the rooms suitable for relaxing and recharging the traveler.

Each room has a water boiler for making coffee and tea, 2 complimentary bottles of water and a large walk-in shower.

For people who desperately need sleep, it is possible to make the bedrooms dark despite the enjoyment of the bright sun in Doha, by using window coverings.

Enjoying a good amount of rest may be one of the highest levels of luxury for people.
