A look at food prices

It goes without saying that during the month of Ramadan, eating habits change and the expenses of Moroccan households increase remarkably. In this context, inflation continues to weigh heavily on the household basket.

On the markets, vegetable prices remain at levels considered high. The tomato, for example, is today between 8 and 12 Dh/Kg, while the potato is sold at prices sometimes exceeding 10 Dh/Kg.

Onions explode between 7 and 15 Dh/Kg, carrots vary between 6 and 9 Dh/Kg, zucchini between 15 and 20 Dh/Kg, cauliflower between 7 and 14 Dh/Kg. Note that the price of green beans is shocking with 20 and 25 Dh/Kg and turnips are between 10 and 13 Dh/Kg.

On the fish market supply side, the trend is identical, the sardine ends up with a marketing price of around 20 dirhams, the kilo of Whiting is at 65 Dh and that of the shrimp at 80 Dh ( once morest 60 Dh in normal times). The kilo of sole is between 75 and 95 Dh/kg, squid between 120 and 130 Dh/kg and tuna varies between 80 and 100 Dh/Kg.
