Eccity has enriched its range of electric scooters with a new three-wheeled model called Model 3, here is our test. Find out what this electric tricycle is capable of.
The electric two-wheeler sector is very successful due to the multitude of models. Indeed, there is a wide range of 50cc, 125cc equivalents that differ in design, size and even performance. On the other hand, the electric tricycle is very limited in terms of choice. To cope with this scarcity, Eccity is launching an innovative model. We tested the Model 3 electric scooter made in France for you.
Test Eccity model 3: a reference electric tricycle
Model 3 is a three wheel electric scooter manufactured by Eccity, a French manufacturer specializing in electric two-wheelers. Category L3e, it can be accessible to all those who are holders of an A2 license or a B license with training.
The Model 3 has had some aesthetic and technical improvements since September 2021. In particular, a redesigned front end with rounded LED lighting, a more efficient fork, a connected and 100% digital dashboard panel. In addition, it has a uncovered handlebars as well as redesigned control buttons.
What is striking at first glance is the balance of the proportions, a very contained and not unsightly rear end. It must be said that this three-wheeled electric scooter is distinguished from its appearance by its balanced proportions, its discreet and original rear axle. Its dimensions (1.95 mx 0.68 mx 1.26 m) and its weight (191 kg) give it a character of lightness compared to conventional three-wheeled thermal vehicles.
Its small size allows it to be parked without problems in areas with a high urban concentration. As for its counter, it stands out for its precision, its readability.
These characteristics testify to the company’s desire to take care of the ergonomics of this vehicle, no unnecessary additions, simplicity is essential.
A very comfortable three-wheeled electric scooter
In addition to its ergonomic design, the Model 3 offers a completely pleasant driving experience. First of all, its soft handle makes vehicle control safer.
Then, its seat can easily accommodate two people. It was found that the passenger could pass his head above the driver thanks to the raised part of the seat. The speed bumps that we encountered during our test allowed us to check the rear axle flexibility of this electric scooter.
Thanks to its high-end shock absorbers and 13-inch Michelin tires, Eccity’s electric tricycle overcomes obstacles more efficiently than any two-wheeler. Our test showed that the Model 3 electric scooter is more fun to drive than some models.
Rich in technology
In addition to the high level of comfort it offers, the Model 3 has a full screen. This shows speed, time, direction, temperature, energy consumption, odometer, battery level and estimated remaining range.
However, this scooter does not benefit fromno related apps. It is therefore not possible to locate it or control the state of its charge via a smartphone. In addition, this screen cannot be used as a GPS, a bit of a shame given its reliability.
Last point, since this three-wheeled scooter does not benefit from a keyless start system, it is necessary use a key to operate it.
Satisfying performance on the road
The Model 3 offers strong acceleration, but without being up to the speed of a BMW CE04. Almost amazing knowing that the Model 3 works with 2 autonomous motors of 5000 W housed in the hub of the rear wheels. In total, this E scooter develops 10,000 W for a slightly less convincing performance, due in particular to its high weight.
During our test, we subjected the Model 3 to extreme conditions to test his endurance. It easily reaches 120 km/h on expressways. Faced with a violent wind during the 15% uphill climb, it travels at 60/65 km/h, even with two passengers.
In fact, it should be noted that this scooter enjoys three disc brakes. Braking is aggressive on the descent. Compared to other scooters, it can reduce the braking distance.
100 km range
During our test, we covered a distance of 40 km with Model 3. Only 50% of the battery level has been consumed. Which means the Eccity Model 3 benefits from a real autonomy of about 100 km.
The scooter is supplied with a charger developing 1500 W. However, it takes 3h30 to refuel with a 230V socket.
Verdict
The Model 3 is one of the most efficient electric three-wheelers, having the particularity of having been designed and manufactured in France. It offers an excellent balance between stability and maneuverabilitywith appreciable performance on the road, without taking our breath away.
It must be said that the Model 3 is expensive, at a price of around €11,000, a sum that prevents certain faults from being overlooked. In particular, the not very flattering finish, the lack of connectivity or keyless start system.
However, we will console ourselves by noting that the three-wheeled electric scooter is robust and reliable. Also, it benefits from an excellent autonomy, which helps to compensate for the fact that the battery is not removable.
In all honesty, it’s a solid choice in terms of an electric trike, if you’re willing to pay the price.
