 – Riyadh: A business firm in Saudi Arabia that deceived customers by announcing a fake offer was fined. The Saudi Ministry of Commerce announced that the Asir Provincial Court of Appeal imposed a fine on a ready-made clothing company in Asir. Businesses in Saudi need to seek special permission from the Ministry of Commerce before announcing offers. The institution failed even in this.

The action was taken by the Ikhtiaruna Al Awwal Establishment owned by Saudi citizen Saeed bin Muhammad bin Salim Al Zuwayri. The court found that the offer was announced without the license of the Ministry of Commerce and thus cheated the consumers. The court also ordered that the name of the firm and its owner, details of the violations committed by the firm and the punishment received by it should be published in two newspapers at the owner’s own expense. The order also said that the advertisements of the illegally announced offer should be removed from all places.
