A Quebec influencer, who paid more than $10,000 to offer an “old” Honda Civic to one of his subscribers, has been making waves since the launch of the unusual competition.

Michael Fortin, who has nearly 70,000 subscribers on TikTok, had the idea a few months ago to completely modify his vehicle.

Mechanics, deep cleaning, safety gadgets: the influencer spared no expense in giving his 2000s model a makeover.

“You need a tank, that’s a good thing, because I’m giving this one [Honda Civic] to a follower,” he says in a TikTok video, adding that the vehicle is now “incredibly beautiful and clean.”

“We changed the oil, the battery, the brakes for a total value of $700. The professional wrap worth $3,500. The bass amp, the sound amp and the subwoofer for a value of $2,500,” he explains on YouTube, specifying that a remote start system has been installed.

Contacted by TVANouvelles.ca, Michael Fortin details the reasons which prompted him to donate the vehicle.

“I was at the gym and considering selling the Civic. It was really when I looked at Marketplace and saw the exorbitant prices of used cars that I had the idea of ​​helping someone and donating the vehicle,” he said. .

“As for the discount, the plan is to try to surprise the person permanently.”

The content creator has clarified the details to participate in the competition on his YouTube channel.

The latter indicates that the complete editing of the YouTube video required some 200 hours of work.
