The old police station located in the Jean Gol park, in Embourg, opposite the municipal administration, has disappeared. This very unattractive and time-worn bungalow was a stain in the landscape. It was even in too dilapidated a state to imagine keeping and converting it, which is why the municipality decided to destroy this building. Instead, a kiosk will be built in the municipal park.
So far the old building has been demolished and a slab has been poured. Phase 2 of the project has already been initiated. “We have already launched a contract for the phase concerning the construction of the kiosk. Six architectural firms responded and submitted a preliminary design to us. Five of them have been selected and will soon submit their project to us. We will then select, with the help of a jury, the project most appropriate to the needs of the municipality,” explains Daniel Bacquelaine.
A friendly place
The municipal administration thus wishes to have a convivial space ideal for the celebrations. “The place will be covered, but open on the sides, which will allow us in the summer to organize various events and even weddings, weather permitting. It will be a semi-closed space which will be relatively large, since it will be 20 meters by 12”, underlines the mayor of Calidifontaine.
The municipality should receive the architects’ projects by April and the mayor hopes to be able to take advantage of this place in the fall, or even next spring.
In terms of budget, the demolition of the old police station and the construction of the slab cost 150,000 euros. The second phase relating to the construction of the kiosk is estimated at 200,000 euros.
As a reminder, the police occupied the old bungalow which was opposite the administration until December 2010. They then moved to the new Police Headquarters set up in Beaufays. In the process, the Town Planning services occupied the premises from May 2011 to May 2012. After which part of the building was made available to the Patro de Mehagne. It should be noted that this bungalow has also served as a storage place for various municipal services in recent years.
