An American tourist was found dead in a holiday apartment in Spain, the result of “extreme sex” she had indulged in with her husband during their holiday.
According to the Spanish media, the police have arrested the husband of an unfortunate woman who allegedly died after intense sexual activity.
The body of the 44-year-old was found inside the apartment, in Plaza Enrique Garcia Herrera, in Malaga, on Saturday, April 6.
The police arrested her 50-year-old husband for manslaughter, as according to police sources the death may be related to some “extreme sexual practices” in which the couple had indulged.
According to local media, the case was investigated as gender-based violence, before being upgraded to homicide, as today’s evidence indicates that it was an accidental death during extreme or dangerous sexual practices in an “intimate setting”.
However, local media reported that according to new information, the uniformed men believe that this is sexist violence.
On Monday, the 50-year-old appeared before the investigator, who ordered the suspect’s temporary detention without bail.
Judicial sources confirmed to La Opinion De Malaga that the case will now be taken over by the court for violence against women, due to the nature of the case.
The macabre case was revealed on Saturday, when local police were alerted to an unconscious woman in an Airbnb-style apartment located in the historic center of the city.
Doctors who rushed to the property simply confirmed the tourist’s death. The body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to undergo an autopsy and forensic study.
If the sexist motive is confirmed, it would be the third fatal incident of its kind in Malaga so far this year.
The Spanish National Police continues to investigate the case.

Tragedy Strikes American Tourist in Spain: A Look into the Incidents and Cultural Differences
Recent reports from Spain have left me, as a travel writer, reflecting on the darker side of tourism and cultural exchange. An American tourist was found dead in a holiday apartment in Spain, allegedly due to “extreme sex” with her husband. As I analyze this tragic incident, I am also considering the broader context of American tourists in Spain and potential cultural differences that might contribute to such incidents.
The victim, a 44-year-old American woman, was found in an apartment in Malaga, Spain, on Saturday, April 6. According to Spanish media, the police have arrested her 50-year-old husband for manslaughter, citing “extreme sexual practices” as a possible cause of death [[source]]. This case highlights the potential risks associated with certain behaviors, especially when they involve intense physical activity.
As an American traveling to Spain, it is essential to understand local customs, laws, and potential risks. According to a Reddit thread, American tourists often stand out in Spain due to their lack of awareness of local customs, public dress codes, and loud speech [[2]]. This lack of cultural sensitivity might not only lead to unintended offense but also, in extreme cases, to tragic outcomes like the one described.
In the context of American tourists in Spain, it is worth noting that Spain is a popular destination for travelers from the Americas. In 2022, Spain received over 104.6 million international tourists, and those tourists spent nearly 70 billion euros throughout the country [[1]]. This influx of visitors highlights the importance of cultural exchange and understanding between American tourists and Spanish locals.
It is also worth mentioning that U.S. citizens traveling to Spain are not subject to any COVID-19 entry restrictions, as per the U.S. Department of State’s International Travel Information [[3]]. However, this does not eliminate the need for awareness of local customs, laws, and potential risks associated with certain behaviors.
the tragic incident involving the American tourist in Spain serves as a reminder of the importance of cultural sensitivity, awareness of local customs, and responsible behavior. As a travel writer, I emphasize the need for American tourists to research and understand the local context, laws, and potential risks associated with certain behaviors. This will not only ensure a safer experience for themselves but also promote positive cultural exchange and understanding between American tourists and Spanish locals.
