a journalist from L’Equipe creates controversy by appearing live with a flamingo flag (photo)

This Sunday March 27, Ghent-Wevelgem celebrates its 84th edition. While Wout Van Aert is the favourite, the L’Equipe channel caused a sensation this Sunday followingnoon. A journalist from the French channel, indeed, showed up with a small flag. But not just any flag, a flaming flag.

Several cycling fans saw this live sequence and did not hesitate to react to the French channel on Twitter. The flamingo flag is inspired by the official Flemish flag but carries a very different symbolism.

The official Flemish flag and the flamingo flag have quite notable differences. The dragon in the official Flemish flag has a red tongue and claws, in addition to yellow and black. Conversely, the flamingo flag, symbol of the most radical and anti-Belgian Flemish movement dropped the red, and the black and yellow flag remained.
