The tree trunk is rough with a strange shape. Many people imagine the shape of a dragon rising into the blue sky. As for local people, they are still used to calling it “hunchback rice tree” due to its unusual shape.
According to local people, the rice tree is regarding 700 years old. However, in reality, no expert has calculated the exact age of the tree.
For many years, the hunchback rice tree has become an attractive destination for tourists when coming to Thai Thuy district. Many professional and amateur photographers from many provinces and cities also come here to work.
From Thai Binh city, visitors go along Highway 39A along Diem Ho River to reach. From this location, visitors can conveniently visit the double rice tree located in Kien Xuong district, also very close.
According to word of mouth, the reason the tree has an unusual shape is due to the impact of storms and war bombs. Having gone through many historical events, the hundred-year-old rice tree, like a “living witness”, still stands firm and stands firm, blooming regularly in March every year.
Because the tree’s unusual position can even collapse if there is a heavy storm, the government and local people built two concrete pillars to support it.
Behind is a small shop owned by Mrs. Chung that is more than 40 years old. This is also a familiar grocery store for people.
By March every year, when the weather is still a bit chilly, the spindly rice branches shed all their leaves during the cold season, now blooming with young green buds. Looming among the trees, flowers bloom bright red as if lighting fire between heaven and earth.
