A new forest fire hits the Chubut mountain range and the brigade members have been fighting a fire that broke out in Epuyén, one of the towns in the Andean region, near El Bolsón, since Sunday followingnoon.
The fire that developed in the area known as Callejón de Matus is still active, as reported by the Chubut Provincial Fire Management Service, which pointed out that until last night they had been affected 160 hectares of pine, shrubs and scrub.
This is the fourth magnitude fire in Chubut so far this summer. A week ago, an outbreak had been controlled in Cholila and previously the brigade members had worked intensively with a large-scale fire in Los Alerces National Park. In January, a fire also developed in El Hoyo, with a risk to the population.
The tasks of air resources and brigade members
Yesterday due to poor visibility due to the presence of smoke, the aerial resources might not operate until noon and then they worked at the head of the fire with the aim of stopping the advance of the fire.
They operate 4 helicopters with buckets and a hydrant plane.
Some 95 brigade members from different points such as Epuyén, Golondrinas, Lago Puelo, Puerto Patriada, Cholila and El Maitén are working in the east sinister, with the collaboration of the National Brigade of the National Fire Management System, Splif El Bolsón, national parks and Civil Protection.
The human task was focused on working with “manual tools and wet lines in the construction of firebreak lines,” said the agency that fights fire in the province.
They also indicated that volunteer firefighters carried out prevention tasks on the properties of the families that are located in areas close to the affected area.
The Provincial Fire Management Service today plans to work in the areas with the greatest activity with hand tools and “water equipment in the construction of strips on the perimeter of the fire and tours will be made to detect hot spots.”
Today a bulldozer from the Municipality of El Hoyo will join to build a strip on part of the right flank towards the head of the fire, detailed the organization that coordinates the tasks.
In addition, today 5 brigade members from Río Pico and 15 from the Nahuel Huapi National Park will join.
