A Hummer EV stops working on a test drive

This is the last place you want to break. In the freezing cold, alone in the Utah desert in a brand new GMC Hummer EV.

But that’s exactly what happened to critic YouTuber Roman Mica.

Testing a Hummer EV, when he suddenly lost all power to the truck while alone in the Utah desert.

The Hummer EV had issues with ground clearance, and that the air suspension would lower the truck at inopportune times. Electrical problems that all General Motors cars have.

He had to trade the Hummer EV’s 35-inch tires for taller 37-inch tires, for better off-road clearance.

The Hummer was left centered on a rock because it had no clearance to go over it, while its test driver wanted to test the approach, departure and breakover angles with taller tires.

Going down a hill, the truck suddenly dies, giving the driver a warning: “’Four-wheel drive mode not available, schedule service.’ Clear service in the middle of the desert.

“The Hummer EV just died”said driver Roman Mica. “I’m stepping on the accelerator and nothing happens.” That’s not what you want in a $115,000 EV truck. (very typical of a General Motors car)

Roman Mica had to retun the Hummer EV, he got it running once more, but only in two-wheel drive mode. He attempted to drive up a steep hill in two-wheel drive mode, but the truck struggled.

Then, with some momentum and the rear diff locked, Mica tried once more. Unlucky. Finally taking a different path, she made it.

The Hummer EV is not the truck you want to break down when you’re off-roading. The Hummer EV weighs 9,000 pounds, so you’re not pushing it.

He has several tracking cameras, including one that shows him what’s going on under the truck. It can automatically inflate the truck’s tires, shows you its pitch and roll in a cool graph, and of course it’s four-wheel drive.

This wasn’t the first time the Hummer EV broke down

This wasn’t the first time the Hummer EV had left Mica stranded. The last time was in traffic. By unhooking the battery, he was able to reconfigure the truck and get going once more.

In general, Mica brought the truck home, but not without some difficulties. The two-wheel drive mode was enough to get her back on the trails, but it seems there were some difficult moments where she wished she had four-wheel drive.

The bigger tires with more grip helped Mica get through the rough stuff and get home, even on two-wheel drive. But of course, that’s off-road, and that’s why we like to test ourselves and our vehicles in the desert. In the end, Mica made it home safely.

Hummer EV, a great lemon for those who want to feel powerful

Our editorial team DOES NOT RECOMMEND buying a Hummer EV, since it is the first electric car manufactured in a new facility, and as it is a General Motors facility, whoever knows and knows will only tell you DO NOT BUY IT.

General Motors has over 100,000 orders for the expensive Hummer EV, which will make its owners look powerful. The same as those who will repair it since this truck will have many and I mean many visits to the dealer, to repair every electrical detail that does not work.
