Two additional batches of Euphytose, a plant-based anti-stress to promote sleep, are being recalled “as a precautionary measure” after a first recall announced on Thursday, the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) said on Friday.
On Thursday, the German group Bayer announced that it had carried out a recall of a batch of Euphytose, sold without a prescription, after the discovery of an antihistamine tablet (Phenergan) inside a box.
The results of the first investigations “suggest human error during a stage of the manufacturing of these drugs”according to the ANSM.
Investigations continue
“As a precautionary measure”, the laboratory recalls two other batches of Euphytose (SX2295 and SX2297, with an expiration date of 03/2025) and “investigations continue”, continues the drug policeman.
The ANSM invites those concerned “to return their box to their pharmacist for exchange”.
The first batch recalled is number SX2298 with an expiration date of 03/2025. A batch includes around 16,000 plastic bottles, each containing 180 tablets.
Phenergan, which contains a neuroleptic with antihistamine properties, is indicated in adults in cases of occasional insomnia, during travel for example.
