The Ottawa Hospital has announced that wearing a mask will be mandatory in all clinical areas and waiting rooms as of September 11.
According to the hospital, it was because of the respiratory virus season that it was decided to implement this directive.
“We expect increased transmission of the influenza virus, COVID-19 and RSV,” said a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter.

It also announces that the facility will update some of its measures to help protect patients, staff, and the general public.
Thus, the mask will be mandatory in clinical sectors, which are defined as care units, nursing stations, and ambulatory care sectors.
“Wearing a mask will continue to be recommended, but optional, in all other non-clinical sectors”, underlines however the hospital.
These requirements will remain in effect throughout the respiratory virus season, but the healthcare facility has not specified a date.
