LHypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) affects up to 8% of men and 10% of women worldwide. Kisspeptin, a natural hormone that stimulates the release of other reproductive hormones and plays a major role around puberty, might help them, according to the results of two studies carried out by researchers from Imperial College London. and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and published in the Jama Network Open.
The two studies — involving 32 heterosexual men (aged 21 to 52) and 32 heterosexual women (aged 19 to 48) — are the first to test kisspeptin in people with hypoactive sexual desire disorder.
