Game News A highly anticipated game from Ubisoft is postponed for the sixth time!
“This time it’s the right one”, one might think a few weeks ago… But that was without counting on the announcement of yet another postponement. Yes, Skull and Bones is on track to be the most delayed game in Ubisoft’s history.
Summary
- And 6!
- Several cancellations for Ubisoft and a vague firing window for Skull and Bones
And 6!
First announced in 2017, Skull and Bones had a lot of upheavals. While it was expected for the following year, the game of naval battles unfortunately sees its destiny capsize because of a development that is chaotic to say the least. However, despite a multitude of postponements, we really thought that this sad adventure was going to end, especially since a date that might not be more precise had been unveiled recently.
As a reminder, following having been eventful on many occasions, the title of Ubisoft was to weigh anchor on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S from November 8th. We really believed in it, despite the fact that it faced the colossal God of War: Ragnarök expected the next day. Surely for fear of competition, the pirate game then undergoes a new postponement. However, this bad news is still accompanied by an encouraging message and a new release date: March 9, 2023.
Although development of the game is complete at this point, the additional time will be used to fine-tune and balance the experience taking into account player feedback during technical testing and the Insider Program that has taken place over the past two weeks. This is the right decision both for our players and for the long-term success of the game, as March 9, 2023 is an adequate release window for this unique new brand. Ubisoft
We therefore remained confident regarding the idea of getting our hands on Skull and Bones on March 9, but unfortunately, it would seem that God of War: Ragnarök or even the few promised balances were the least of Ubisoft’s worries since Skull and Bones has just been postponed for the sixth consecutive time.
Several cancellations for Ubisoft and a vague firing window for Skull and Bones
The sad news has just been revealed in a press release published by the French publisher. In this document, we learn that the company “is facing major challenges”. It notably calls into question the weak results of Mario + The Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023, but also the absence of game releases from major licenses in recent months.
It is therefore in response to this problem that Ubisoft unveils an upcoming “restructuring”, and this, without giving more details, but also the cancellation of three unannounced games and of course the postponement of Skull and Bones. Unfortunately, we are not entitled to any new specific date for the latter. We will therefore have to be content with a (very) vague 2023-2024.
