A high-end Thunderbolt 4 dock and an entry-level USB-C hub at Ugreen

Ugreen has just announced two new products, a Thunderbol 4 dock (fixed) and a USB-C hub (portable). The two products are in the same range, Revodok, but are not aimed at the same audience.

Un dock Thunderbolt 4 complet

The Revodok Max 213 is a complete product sold quite expensively (€400). It offers numerous sockets: a Thunderbolt 4 input capable of supplying 90 W to the computer, two Thunderbolt 4 outputs at 40 Gb/s (compatible with video), a DisplayPort 1.4 video output, two USB-A sockets at 5 Gb/s, two USB-A sockets at 10 Gb/s and one USB-C socket at 10 Gb/s. In addition to the numerous USB sockets, it also has an RJ45 (Ethernet) socket at 2.5 Gb/s, a combo jack output (compatible with hands-free kits which integrate a microphone), and a dual card reader (SD and microSD) UHS-II compatible (312 MB/s maximum).

The case is powered by an external power supply of 180 W and can provide 20 W to a USB-C device, in addition to the 90 W sent to the host computer. For video outputs, it accepts two 4K screens at 60 Hz on devices that allow it, that is to say the majority of PCs. On Macs, this is the case on devices equipped with a chip from the Pro, Max or Ultra families, but not on the basic versions (M1, M2 and M3) which are limited to two screens maximum and therefore often only one external model (except in the case of the Mac mini M2).

This is a very complete dock that does not suffer from any crippling flaws, even if some competitors can integrate an M.2 slot for an SSD or Ethernet at 10 Gb/s.

A cheaper USB-C model

In addition to this high-end model, Ugreen also offers the Revodok Pro 210. This USB-C hub offers fairly wide connectivity: a USB-C input (5 Gb/s), two USB-A 2.0 sockets (480 Mb/s) for slow devices, a USB-A socket (5 Gb/s ) for external hard drives, a 1 Gb/s Ethernet socket, a dual UHS1 card reader (SD and microSD) (104 MB/s) and two HDMI outputs. While the hub can handle two separate monitors under Windows, it simply displays the same thing under macOS. Finally, a USB-C input allows you to connect a charger (up to 100 W) to the hub, so that it can power a laptop. This fairly complete USB-C hub costs €70.
