A heinous crime occurs in the center of Santa Fe’s downtown area, leaving a trail of bloodshed.

On Monday, April 10th, 2023, a man was fatally stabbed in Santa Fe city center, marking the 23rd homicide of the year in La Capital department. The victim, Rubén Carlos Segovia, 62, was found with multiple stab wounds on the public road at San Luis and Irigoyen Freyre streets, nearby Plaza España. Despite being transported to the José María Cullen Hospital in an ambulance from Sies 107, the man was pronounced dead on arrival. Witnesses reported seeing a couple on a motorcycle at the scene of the crime, and the police promptly arrested Paola Vanesa C., 38, and David Leonardo S., 39, who were driving in the area of Pellegrini Boulevard and 9 de Julio. Both suspects were detained and made available to the Homicide prosecutor on duty. Flavio Raina’s photo captured the commotion in Santa Fe’s city center.

The murder of Rubén Carlos Segovia is another tragic reminder of the violent reality that many citizens in Santa Fe and Argentina face on a daily basis. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. We can only hope that justice will be served and that measures will be taken to prevent future acts of violence. The arrests of Paola Vanesa C. and David Leonardo S. bring a glimmer of hope that those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.
