The HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2024, the annual competition celebrating Huawei’s open platform for outstanding smartphone photography, was also officially launched during the exhibition’s opening ceremony. For the eighth consecutive year, the competition aims to inspire consumers to fully develop their creativity and imagination by leveraging Huawei’s leading XMAGE imaging technology, giving each photo a deeper emotional and cultural resonance.
“A Heartwarming World – 12 Years of Huawei Photography”
Under the theme “A Heartwarming World,” the exhibition features nearly 300 photos taken with Huawei smartphones, selected from millions of submissions. “These images show moments of warmth, calm and brightness from all corners of the world world as well as the real relatability of ordinary people and embodies HUAWEI To demonstrate impact beyond what is recorded.
The past decade has been a time of rapid development in mobile photography. This exhibition shows works from Huawei smartphone series from the last 12 years. During this period, Huawei has driven the evolution and development of mobile imaging technology through continuous innovation. In addition, Huawei continuously participates in global activities such as photo competitions, community events and trend reports to promote the global spread of mobile photography culture.
Today, the HUAWEI P series is upgraded to the HUAWEI Pura series. HUAWEI Pura series launches with a new attitude that perfectly integrates the ultimate photography, aesthetic design and unique style. According to the latest DXOMARK test, the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra secures the top spot in the DXOMARK Smartphone Camera Rankings with an impressive score of 163 points.1
With the HUAWEI Pura 70 Series, HUAWEI XMAGE sets new standards and pushes the boundaries of technology and experience alongside global users to take intelligent photography to a new level.
National Geographic photographer Keith Ladzinski said during the opening ceremony: “Photography is a universal language that can capture beauty and inspire conversation. This exhibition reflects Huawei’s thoughts on “technology” and “art”, and presents a real brand philosophy with heart.”
The exhibition deals with eight different themes: “The Secrets of Mother Nature”, “Landscapes and Spaces”, “A Dialogue with Animals”, “The Story of Life”, “You and Me”, “The Joy of Sport”, “The Power of Moments” and “The World of Youth”.

HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2024: Inspiring Inspirations, Leading Global Photography Culture
The HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2024 were officially presented during the opening ceremony of the exhibition. An open platform for outstanding smartphone photography, the annual competition encourages the use of unique perspectives and unlimited creativity to bring deeper artistic meaning and aesthetic expression to mobile photography. Since 2017, users from more than 170 countries and regions have participated in the annual competition and have submitted nearly 4 million entries to date. This makes the HUAWEI XMAGE Awards a cultural heritage in its own right, containing fragments of human history from global perspectives.
This year’s XMAGE Awards will introduce new categories: “Moments,” “Faces,” “So Far, So Close,” and “Style,” showcasing Huawei’s leadership in snapshots, portrait photography, telephoto and macro photography, and color styling provides. In addition, new awards such as the “Best of Pura Series” and “Best of Mate Series” were launched to encourage artists to explore different expressions and themes with Huawei’s flagship imaging capabilities. All winners will be able to showcase their work on global advertising platforms and the HUAWEI Pay Transit Card, among others.
The competition also welcomes a new jury including Chen Xiaobo – 9th Vice President of the China Photographers Association, Keith Ladzinski – National Geographic photographer and Emmy-nominated director, James Perolls – fashion photographer and director, Susi Belianska – portrait photographer and visual artist, Li Changzhu – Huawei Consumer Business Group, who will collectively select the most compelling photo stories based on their profound insights into image expression.
