Once once more, researchers have demonstrated the connection between the intestines and the brain. And this time it’s in the realm of sport. Certain bacteria of the intestinal flora promote the activity of to dopamine, the neurotransmitter (molecule that allows communication between neurons) of pleasure and motivation. This releases molecules that activate sensory neurons installed in the intestine, which in turn increase the level of dopamine in the brain via a signal conveyed by the spinal cord.

Lack of motivation for sport? What if it came from the intestinal microbiota?
This mechanism of pleasure being favored during physical effort, the reward system is set up, and we are motivated to want to do it once more! We don’t all have the same microbiota, and these bacteria are more or less present depending on the individual, which may explain why everyone’s motivation for going to play sports is not the same. But what is certain is that the study carried out on mice showed that those in which the flora was suppressed presented poor physical performance. We can therefore say thatDysbiosis is synonymous with low motivation to play sports… One more reason to take care of our flora!
