The Ministry of Health pledgedIsraelThe formation of an investigation committee following it was discovered that a woman who underwent an artificial insemination process was carrying a fetus that did not have the genetics.
The Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed that it had received a report from the Assuta Rishon LeZion Medical Center following revealing a genetic examination of a woman carrying a genetically incompatible fetus with her and her partner.
“The Ministry of Health was immediately notified of the incident,” the Assuta Medical Center quoted the Assuta Medical Center in a statement.
The hospital added that all cases conducted in the relevant laboratory were closely examined to determine the biological parents of the fetus.
Similar incidents have occurred before, despite their extreme rarity. In November of 2021, the Los Angeles Times reported that a woman had given birth to her second child, only to discover weeks later that the girl was not genetically related.
The American newspaper pointed out that the girl does not resemble either of her parents following her birth in 2019, as it was found following a DNA examination weeks following birth that the child was not related to any of the parents.
