A 68-year-old woman and her 39-year-old son died this followingnoon in a head-on collision between two vehicles in the Nalón corridor, near Sama de Langreo. Four other people have been injured to varying degrees, one seriously, another with a reserved prognosis and two others minor. Two of them have been transferred to the Valle del Nalón Hospital.
The accident occurred around a quarter to one in the followingnoon. A car traveling in the direction of Laviana invaded the opposite lane, colliding with the other one, traveling in the direction of Riaño, in which the two deceased were traveling. Firefighters from the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias from the La Morgal and San Martín del Rey Aurelio parks traveled to the scene of the events.
They worked together to free the passengers from both vehicles. Two people were traveling in one and four in the other. The work to treat the victims, evacuate the injured and clear the road lasted for almost three hours, causing significant traffic jams in the area. Traffic had to be diverted through the towns of Sama and Ciaño as the road was completely cut off.
