Paramedic Mark Titley was one of four paramedics who attended a home following reports that a 94-year-old woman had collapsed in her garden on June 29 last year.
The medical team was unable to save the elderly woman from her health crisis. However, the surprise was following the elderly woman’s son watched the surveillance camera, which captured the paramedic’s attempt to steal an amount of money that was on the table, estimated at 60 pounds sterling.
In the video, which was published by various media outlets, the paramedic appears as he steals the money that was placed on a table in the house. And following he noticed that there was a surveillance camera, he hurried to return the money to its place.
The deceased woman’s son described the video as “disgusting,” noting that the paramedic was “emotionless.”
During his trial, the paramedic denied that he had planned the theft, indicating that he was making sure that the money was in a safe place, awaiting the arrival of the deceased’s relatives.
The paramedic, who retired weeks following the accident, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended, replaced by 120 unpaid hours of work, and paid £530 to the deceased’s family.
