A group of boys stopped the Prague metro in the morning rush hour. They rolled a concrete ball onto the track

The morning subway service from Černý Most stopped shortly before 8 a.m. due to an incident that happened at the next station, Rajská zahrada.

Spokesperson for the Transport Company, Aneta Řehková, told Novinká that a foreign object had landed on the track.

“A decorative concrete ball from the sidewalk rolled across the platform into the 2nd dormitory,” the spokeswoman quoted from the dispatch report, saying it was thrown there by a group of boys.

The case is being investigated by the police, its spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová confirmed that the incident was recorded by a security camera. The police have not yet mentioned how many boys were involved and of what age, nor is it clear whether they have arrested anyone in connection with the case.

“We are investigating all the circumstances,” she added.

The subway was passing through Národní třída

Traffic was restored shortly after 8:30 a.m. on the busy part of the subway route, where people travel from large housing estates.

Workers at the Národní třída station, where the entrance gate stopped working, also reported an emergency in traffic on the same line around five o’clock.

Due to a technical fault, the entrance and exit were closed and subway trains only passed through the station. Traffic resumed at 7:40 a.m.
