Big premiere evening in St. Margarethen: “Carmen” premieres in the opera in the quarry on Wednesday evening. Celebrities from politics and high society don’t miss the opera by George Bizet.

Numerous guests came to St.Margarethen on Wednesday evening for the big premiere. Director Daniel Serafin welcomed numerous well-known guests to the opera at the quarry. From politics, Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and former Federal Chancellor Brigitte Bierlein, among others, did not miss the premiere.

Weather presenter Christa Kummer, singer Waterloo, Esterhazy Managing Director Karl Wessely, Harald Serafin, actor Philipp Breitenecker, journalist Maggie Entenfellner, Business Agency Burgenland Managing Director Michael Gerbavsits and ORF Burgenland presenter Elisabeth Gerbavsits also came to the premiere of “Carmen”.

It was not for nothing that “Carmen” was chosen this year for the opera in the quarry: the opera is considered to be one of the most performed and popular operas in the world. The first cast of Carmen is Canadian-Lebanese singer Joyce El-Khoury. She has engagements at the major international opera houses in London, Madrid and Sydney. She has already appeared in various roles in the opera “Carmen”: she sang Frasquita at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Micaela in Santa Fe, but she is making her debut as the title character Carmen. Allessandro Camera designed the stage design in St.Margarethen, the costumes by Carla Ricotti.
