Gamescom 2022, a five-day festival for more than 265,000 gamers from around the world, was held in the historic city of Cologne, Germany from August 24-28. Cosplayers who dressed up as characters from popular games and movies, as well as video game enthusiasts from all over the world, gathered at Cologne Messe, where the Gamescom exhibition was held. 2022 marked a special year for Gamescom, as it was the first time in three years that the event was held in person, inspiring more energy and connection from gamers than ever before.

At the event, Samsung Electronics inaugurated the Odyssey City booth as an ode to Gamescom 2022. Through this immersive and hands-on experience showcasing the new Odyssey lineup, visitors were able to see for themselves the next-level performance of the advanced game screens.

Odyssey City: Enter a new era of immersive gaming — From Odyssey Ark to Gaming Hub

As soon as they entered the Samsung stand, visitors were confronted with the next-generation Odyssey Ark gaming display, unveiled for the first time in the European market. Visitors navigated the booth from the Odyssey Ark area, to the Experience area, then to the Gaming Hub area, and finally to the Tournament area to watch thrilling live games.

Audiences were mesmerized by the impressive size of the Odyssey Ark, measuring 55 inches, equipped with 4K image quality and high 165Hz refresh rate. A visitor to the booth said he liked “the size because he loves photography and videography. Also, for gaming, it looks like a space station. Another visitor tested the Valorant game on the Odyssey Ark and said, “It’s really good if you want to stream the game, chat with Twitch on top of that, and play music.”

In addition to the Odyssey Ark, visitors marveled at the Odyssey G4 and Odyssey Neo G8. One video game enthusiast said “the graphics are amazing” on the Odyssey Neo G8.

Another popular standout from the Samsung Electronics booth was the Samsung Gaming Hub,¹ an all-in-one streaming game discovery platform. This allows users of a Samsung TV or Odyssey-series product that supports Samsung Gaming Hub – and a controller compatible with the gaming hub – to enjoy games without downloading or needing storage space.

After experiencing the Samsung Gaming Hub, visitors came away feeling that “it’s convenient because you don’t need a separate device such as a console or PC, and you can start the game immediately following setting up Bluetooth if you have a controller”. which is ideal for easy game preparation.

Put the Citizens of Odyssey to the test with a ‘This or That’ quiz and ‘Odyssey Lineup Quiz’

To find out the play styles of Gamescom fans, Samsung asked a series of questions in a game of “This or That”. The questions prompted gamers to choose the first or second option for topics like “I play on PC versus I play on console” and “gaming devices matter versus gaming skill.” The game’s most interesting finding is that many players tend to multi-task. In other words, they enjoy watching video or listening to music while playing a game. This shows that multitasking is becoming a new trend as gamers play a variety of games at once or play a game while searching online for a walkthrough.



For a fun and interactive activity, Samsung engaged visitors in a quiz on the Odyssey range, giving away prizes to those who guessed the most answers correctly. Questions included, “How many speakers and woofers are fitted to the Odyssey Ark?” Samsung knowledge professionals won an award for responding to four speakers and two woofers.

Get in the game: competitive tournaments, 5v5 battles and talk shows

Daily gaming tournaments were held during the exhibition in the tournament area, featuring the Odyssey G4. During the three days, there was a long line of gamers waiting to experience the outstanding performance of the Odyssey G4 up close, which received rave reviews from critics.

On the main stage, a five-on-five League of Legends (LoL) match took place with Odyssey Neo G8, attended by famous global gaming influencers and visitors. The match was an opportunity to check out the superior performance of the Odyssey Neo G8, which supports 4K image quality and 240Hz refresh rate. The 5v5 battle was streamed in real time through a great signage in the booth, and the public joined in the fun cheering on the players playing live.
