One of the most prominent stars of the Arab world, enjoying a great deal of femininity, tenderness and elegance, and stood before the major stars of art in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon

After her success in her first Egyptian film in front of the star Omar Sharif, the throne of Egyptian movie stars threatened that she is the Syrian artist Hala Shawkat, who was expelled by the artist Faten Hamama from Egypt, and left her family and lived her last days in the Home of Happiness for the Elderly.

(Fatima Turkan) is her real name. She was born in the city of Daraa in Syria on March 18, 1930, of Turkmen origin. She was fluent in the Turkish language.

She joined the Syndicate of Artists in Syria, started her first artistic steps in Damascus, then moved to the world of stardom and fame in Egypt.

She was discovered by the Egyptian director Atef Salem and called her Hala Shawkat, and presented her in her first acting experience in Egypt through the movie A Mawdoo3 with the Unknown.

She presented her last artistic work following embodying the role of Umm Mutee in the Syrian series Kasr Al Khawatir with director Nazir Awad.

Hala Shawkat caused a sensation following starring in the embodiment of Nadia, the gentle romantic girl in the movie “A Date with the Unknown” in front of Omar Sharif, where the producers called her to the point where she contracted to star in 12 films, which angered

“The Lady of the Arab Screen,” actress Faten Hamama, who immediately made a phone call to the great producer Henry Barakat and told him: “Hala Shawkat is a danger to Egyptian cinema.”

Hala was surprised to withdraw all the contracts she had contracted to star in her new films and expelled her outside Egypt following the end of her residency period, so she decided to travel to Syria and tried more than once following that to return to Cairo once more, but she was prevented from entering Egypt.

The late artist Hala Shawkat decided in the last days of her life with her desire to leave her home in the Mazraa neighborhood in Syria to live in the Home of Happiness for the Elderly and remained there until her death on April 20, 2007 at the age of 77

Shaukat said regarding the reason for leaving her home and residing in the elderly home: “The situation has changed and age is merciless, and this home is paid and its prices are not cheap, so it is an ideal place to be a home for the elderly who cannot serve themselves, bearing in mind that the home has a 24-hour health service,

Praise be to God, I never feel isolated. I have many friendships. There are always people I visit and they visit me.. and I live my last days as the sultan of my time.”
