There are many films that directly or indirectly address disability, few are as joyful and touching as “Auxiliary”, by Lucas Bacle. He stands out for his humor and his sincerity: two qualities specific to Louis Milhet, who directly inspired this short film. His disability forces him to live with caregivers and he chooses them so well that the last three people who visited him wanted to tell the story (Alexis Dovera, Laurent Target, Lucas Bacle).
“Their training was coming to my house. and watch how we did it. Laurent still has difficulty understanding six years later…”, teases Louis Milhet. The story ? A tormented care worker will have to admit to his best friend with a disability, whom he has been caring for for several years, that he will not come back to work the next day.
“Home help in rural areas (ADMR) and the Fund Management Association for the professional integration of disabled people (Agefiph) were our first partners,” emphasizes Alexis Dovera, producer for Saint Ginger. We went to see the institutions on the ground, to offer them this offbeat vision, anything but miserabilist. »
TV7, which selected the short film as part of its contract with the Region, was joined by several local institutions, including the Departmental Council, in connection with its major 2024 cause: disability. Jean-Luc Gleyze, president of the Department, was also present at the screening: “Your film touches on the essential: highlighting human relationships. » So much so, moreover, that Canal+ directly purchased “Auxiliaire”, which won 22 prizes and accumulated 70 selections.
Of course, there is a hiccup: if the financing plan was 49,000 euros, the film cost its creators 83,000 euros. But, faced with such a brilliant exercise, we can bet that it will not remain as it is.
