Pathanamthitta | A girl who was being treated died following being bitten by a stray dog in Ranni Perunad. Abhirami (12), a native of Pathanamthitta Perumnad, died. He died while in the intensive care unit of the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
On August 14, the child was bitten while going home to buy milk. The child was bitten in nine places on his face and leg. The girl’s relatives immediately took the girl to Pathanamthitta General Hospital. From here, vaccines and other things were given. Abhirami was also given three immunizations. Later, the girl was sent home and brought back to the taluk hospital due to illness. After getting seriously ill from here, he was admitted to the intensive care unit of Kottayam Medical College.
A special medical board was formed in Kottayam Medical College for the girl’s treatment. He died while receiving the best treatment. Although the child showed signs of lice infestation, the fluid was sent to Pune Virology Lab for confirmation. The result of this is imminent death. The body will be released to the relatives following the post-mortem.
According to the Health Department, 20 people have been killed by stray dogs this year. Most of them were vaccinated. The Chief Minister had instructed the Health Department to check the effectiveness of the vaccine during the discussion in the Legislative Assembly the other day.
