A futuristic caravan for the well-being of caregivers

At the Chartres hospital (Eure-et-Loir), the Boost Box, a fully equipped caravan, offers a moment of relaxation to the nursing staff.

« Çhas put in good conditions to resume work. Rocked by soft music and the scent of essential oils, Zineb, an intern at Chartres hospital (Eure-et-Loir), was able to rest for regarding twenty minutes in the Boost Box before returning to work. This 28 square meter caravan equipped with pulsed air massage mattresses, pressotherapy boots and a multisensory capsule, i.e. equipment reserved for high-level athletes, was made available free of charge to the nursing staff of the Chartres hospital, during the day of August 18.

Relaxation for caregivers

Crisscrossing the corridors of the hospital in sportswear, Inès Decalonne, president and founder of the company, hugs the nurses to present her concept: “You will be installed for twenty minutes, the time for a break on a mattress that going to do gentle back stretches. The nurses listen to this little blonde full of energy, but seem dubious. They nevertheless promise to come and have a look. “You come when you can, when you want and we take care of the rest”, Inès motivates them with a big smile.

This former commercial director worked for almost thirty years in the medical field. After several months of unemployment, she decides to embark on the adventure, before being joined by her nephews Léo and Sacha Bastien, two giants over one meter ninety and former professional sportsmen who take care of the setting up of the caravan and the installation of the participants. This experience is not reserved only for hospitals: Inès offers its services to companies or during sporting events for a price of 2,000 euros per day.

“I felt like I was weightless”

During the lunch break, a group of nurses from the cardiology department crowd around the caravan. Among them, Marie-Hélène, equipment referent, is eager to test this state-of-the-art equipment. Driven by curiosity, she chooses the capsule. Inès installs him in this futuristic little cocoon. She makes her put on the pressotherapy boots and lets her choose the ambient sound. “I chose the sound of waterfalls, because I love to hike along the water’s edge,” she says just before Inès closes the capsule.

READ ALSOThe nap superpowers “It’s a nap like in kindergarten,” laughs Sacha, associate founder and former professional footballer. The Boost Box can accommodate up to seven people at the same time. The other nurses are installed on the massage mattresses. Leo and Ash place weighted blankets over each of them and put a mask over their eyes. “The blanket and the mask allow you to completely cut yourself off from the rest of the world for a few moments”, specifies Léo, a former professional rugby player.

After regarding twenty minutes, the two brothers take care of gently waking up the whole team. Everyone seems to have difficulty coming out of their daydreams. “These were strange sensations, I had the impression of being massaged in all parts of my body”, explains Laetitia, head of quality of life at the hospital, rubbing her eyes. “I’m not going to be able to hide that I came,” she laughs when she sees the marks the boots have made on her legs.

“I asked for a second round,” jokes Marie, who has worked in this service for several years. She explains: “We are often standing and in a static position, and having taken advantage of this moment of relaxation has been very beneficial for me. “When the boots were tight, I felt like I was weightless. »

Difficult working conditions in the hospital

“This technology might be an additional tool to help caregivers recover better following intense days,” says Yvon Le Tilly, deputy director of the hospital, following testing the Boost Box equipment. “At the hospital, we already offer sophrology sessions to healthcare teams. »

“The medical teams are under pressure”, confirms Grégoire Range, cardiologist and head of the cardiology department. Hospitals operate with reduced staff due to a lack of recruitment. “This problem has worsened since the Covid crisis”, explains the doctor before continuing: “Chartres hospital is a disaster area where 30% of people have no attending physician. All these accumulated problems lead to an overload of work for the medical teams.

At the end of the day, Inès is very happy to have been able to provide a few moments of respite to regarding fifty people. “We hope that everyone will continue to be so smiling when they leave the Boost Box because it is our reward. »
