Toyota pioneered electric cars with the Prius hybrid, and for a while, it seemed sophisticated, but believe it or not, they don’t currently sell an all-electric vehicle in the US.
This is the first fully electric car design, the Toyota BZ4X, and despite its terrible name, it is a practical car that runs on batteries.
Designed from the start as an electric crossover, the BZ4X is not built on other models and is powered by batteries. The car allows you to drive a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge.
While some electric car makers aim to reduce acceleration time, the BZ4X takes around 7 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and that’s still fairly fast. In fact, no one really needs better acceleration than that.
Prices start at regarding $42,000 for a front-wheel-drive model, and those who buy soon in the US will be able to take advantage of an available $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit.
